Does Air compressor cfm increase if operating psi is lower?
If a small air compressor is rated at 5.6CFM@90PSI (Emglo AM99-HC4V 2 Horsepower), what cfm can I get if I operate it at 10-40 psi? Can I approach 10 cfm? I am wanting to use it to run an HVLP gun which operates at the lower pressures but requires a higher cfm. Thank you for your input!! Norman

Usually lower psi means higher CFM but I dont think you are going to get the double you are looking for. If you truly need 10 cfm continuous then you will have to get a compressor that is rated for that. If you have a fairly large tank (20+ gallons) and you can pause to let it catch up you may be alright but if you have something like a 5 gallon tank I dont think its going to work unless you are off more than on.
