Airless Paint Spraying.
An ideal way to accomplish your painting project quickly is to use an airless paint sprayer. Most people hate painting. It goes without saying, the less time spent painting the better.
So, how does a paint sprayer work? The number of airless sprayguns on the market is mind boggling, however the same basic principle applies to them all. The Spraygun unit pumps paint from the paint receptacle - a cup, hopper, or paint drum. The paint itself then is pumped through the hose to the waiting spraygun handpiece. The handpiece of the airless sprayer has a trigger and a spray tip. The spray tip is made from high strength stainless steel and can be reversed 180 degrees - this function enables you to blast out any foreign material or dried paint that may have clogged up the spray tip.
Today's airless sprayguns will spray all types of Acrylic Paint, Enamels, Polyurethanes, primers and undercoats. The need for thinning is usually not required.
Applying masking tape and protecting surfaces that aren't being sprayed is also extremely important. Do not rush this process, because there is nothing worse than having to remove unwanted painting overspray. It is a good idea to put down dropsheets, and tape them down so that they aren't blown back by the spraygun.
The art of using an airless spraygun can really only be learnt over time. The best way is to practice in the backyard or your workshop on an old sheet of drywall or something similar. The tendancy is to make the paint cover in one one thick coat However, it is best to apply two or 3 thin coats rather than one thick one. By doing this, you will eliminate any thick runs in your final result. Ideally you want to keep the hand piece about six inches away from the wall while spraying. This will take some practice, but will result in a more even distribution of paint.
Lastly, ensure that you protect yourself while spraying by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.
